Back on schedule

I met with Dr. Mai at Andrews Institute. He is an orthopedic hip specialist and before we met, I got a CT scan of my affected hip.

“I don’t see ones that big very often”

Hip CT Scan

I have very large Os Acetabuli and severe Femoral Acetabular Impingement (FAI). Essentially, my hip would make a great anchorage - well protected from most angles - but it makes a terrible hip. It wraps around the femoral head much more than it should and that makes it so that my hip doesn’t move as well as it should.

“I’ve seen bigger, but not much bigger”

Hip CT Scan

The break, he said, happened about twenty years ago and has probably been the cause of issues I’ve had off and on for a long time. When it becomes more on than off, it will be time to discuss surgery, but for now I am just supposed to stop ever doing weighted deep squats and flutter kicks. He said to listen to my body and take it easy as needed. I got a steroid injection into my hip and can walk without crutches again…which means back to getting boat and house projects done .
